A GCA FLOWER SHOW PRESENTED BY LITCHFIELD GARDEN CLUB

An article was published in the November issue of the GCA FASG magazine By Design. Teddy Roosevelt got it right when he established the first National Parks, areas of truly wild and unspoiled America, where citizens could escape overcrowded cities and see the wonders that lie beyond the beaten path. Celebrating the lOOth Anniversary of our National Park System, the Litchfield Garden Club created an innovative schedule for designers. READ MORE
Written by Nancy Post, Flower Show Chair - "Our National Parks-America's Best Idea" - turned out to be a very good choice. WPA National Park posters enhanced every aspect of the show in Design, Horticulture and Photography classes. The Conservation Exhibit was interactive, informative and fun and the 6th grade essay contest most memorable for participants, viewers and our members.
A committee of 25 capable women carried out the organization of the various components of the show. All members pitched in on the effort engendering camaraderie and pride in an event well done!
The club won numerous awards and judge's commendations. 254 people attended the show on Saturday. Compliments abounded. What a wonderful show it was!

The Litchfield Garden Club invited all Litchfield Intermediate School 6th graders to participate in an essay contest to celebrate National Parks at the June 2017 LGC Flower Show!
The topic of the essay was “Our National Parks – America’s Best Idea.” One winner was chosen and invited to read his/her essay at the Litchfield Garden Club Flower Show on June 10, 2017. The winner was Olivia Kracht - read essay HERE

As featured in Litchfield.bz, Litchfield Garden Club member Victoria Sansing presented an award certificate to Litchfield Intermediate School sixth-grader Olivia Kracht during the club's flower show at the Litchfield Community Center on Saturday, June 10th. Kracht was the winner of the club's recent essay contest on the importance of national parks. Read more
